Happy Birthday Dani

Description

Noble Kayleen, still the suffering persists to thrive?

Endure as you can, for without ache and torment, we cannot survive

Adorned on her head, is a saddened crown

In spite of the agony, she refuses surrender nor will she drown

Though the regal gold tiara may fall

She remains sovereign by nature, as a princess she wears tall

Anguish she feels some sorrowful days

Yet hammered courage leaps through her veins

Because within every girl, born royal or wrought

Lies an unyielding heartbeat, fear she heeds not

Happy birthday, Dani. :)

I got home from work, and just drew this really quick in 3 hours. I saw a photograph in a newspaper which gave me this idea. I’m not sure why Kayleen is sad, but the girl in my reference image looked so heartbroken and in need of a hug. I’ve never seen Kayleen sad before, but I’m sure even a Princess has her days. Forgive me for drawing something so melancholy, albeit sloppy-ish on your 21st birthday, I promise when I acquire the time, I’ll definitely draw you something better, and hopefully more cheerful.

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful day, yaar, and was slightly better than last year.

Off to bed now.

You've gotten pretty good with anatomy lately, Asante. Like me and Sid were just discussing, references help in the best ways. That said, this is freakin' beautiful. You're too critical of yourself. If Dani likes it (and judging by her comments, I can surely say she does), then you've accomplished your goal. I may not know too much about the character Kayleen, but both the artwork and the fairly incredible conversation you had with Dani sheds so much light to me as a curious viewer. What I take from it is that she's not a character who constantly suffers, she displays a wide range of complex emotions, but she has experienced pain in the past. This is marvelous. I keep scrolling to the top to take in all the details I may have missed. It's difficult to put into proper words what this work does for me, internally. Carry on and bravo!
